Sunday Stamps II 64

Chiming in once again form the Midwest, it's my contribution to Sunday Stamps, hosted at See It on a Postcard.

The theme this week is women on stamps.  Inspired by our hostess, I am sharing a very similar stamp that I showed on my blog some time ago:

A wonderful stamp and surrounding material from Russia, showing, I believe, Catherine the Great.

See who else is joining in this week!

A nice combination of themes, unusual for a building not to be a palace of some kind on a stamp of royalty. I think you might be pleased to know it was the Imperial Academy of Science (although today it is a museum), looks gorgeous in photographs by the side of the River Neva.

This is also a very nice sheet. And the Academy would have done so much more for the people of Russia than a palace, so a good choice!
